Privacy

What we have on you.

Short version: not much. No tracking cookies, no ad networks, no cross-site profile. We watch aggregate page views to see whether anyone's reading; we keep your email only if you asked us to.

What we collect

Anonymous page-view counts via Vercel Web Analytics. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't fingerprint browsers, and doesn't track you across sites. We see things like “forty-seven people read the Santorini article this week” — never who.

A first-party count of clicks on our partner links — which partner, which part of the page, nothing else. No IP address, no device details, no way to tie a click to a person. We use it to see which parts of the site people find useful.

Standard server logs through our hosting provider (Vercel) — request paths, response codes, the kind of thing every website records. Kept short-term, used for debugging when something breaks.

Your email address only if you subscribe to the newsletter. We use it to send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe from any email we send.

Why no cookie banner

Our analytics are consent-free under GDPR because they process no personal data. Since we don't set tracking cookies ourselves, there's nothing to consent to. (When you click through to a partner like Booking.com or Kiwi, they set cookies on their domain to attribute the booking back to us. Those are theirs, governed by their privacy policies — see the respective links from our affiliate disclosure.)

What we don't do

Sell data. Buy data. Run ad networks. Cross-reference you with third-party trackers. Build a marketing profile. Pass your email to partners.

If you want to know what we have on you

Most likely nothing that identifies you — if you haven't subscribed to the newsletter, we genuinely don't know who you are. If you have, write to hello@sunroulette.com and we'll remove your email.

If this changes

We'll update this page if we change anything about what we collect. We won't quietly add tracking.
