Resorts plus Mayan ruins. Sargassum April–August. Spring break — avoid early March.
A decent stretch with some sun and a chance of a shower.
Days 1–5 are usually reliable, 6–10 drift, 11–14 are the model guessing. Check again the day before you fly — more on what this can and can't do.
When to go
From the 2026 climate study, not the live forecast.Structural odds, not a verdict — the live forecast can still surprise either way.
Hurricane Beryl made landfall as a Category 2 at Tulum on 5 July 2024. Sargassum is the defining issue March–August, peaking May–July; the east-facing beaches of Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Mahahual are heavily affected. Cozumel's west-facing reef side is largely spared. The Nortes — cold fronts from late November to early March — bring brief windy days. Optimum: mid-March to late May, or November to early December.

December–April is when we'd go. Skip June–October: sargassum on the beaches and hurricane season. The live forecast on this page shows what the next two weeks look like.

Yes. December sits inside the best stretch (December–April). Once your dates fall within the next two weeks, the forecast above gives you the real picture.
Is Cancún good in June?
We'd go another month: June means sargassum on the beaches and hurricane season. Locked dates? It still works if you check recent beach photos before you pick the hotel.
